How to be nude and love it

by Oribu Olivia Yokota

2009 Spring/Summer is all about bare beauty and making you look like you are hardly wearing makeup.  The makeup artists for Prada, Chloe and Alexander McQueen all have given their runway models a healthy, flawless complexion that radiates and makes them glow.  How do you create this seasons Nude Look?  Look no further because Musk is here to help!

• Prep the skin by using an oil-free moisturizer like Shisedo’s Pureness Matifying Moisturizer Oil-Free ($32.00 US)

or Blue Herbal Moisturizer by Kiehls ($22.00).

Alternatively, try a primer that will absorb the oil beneath your foundation like Photo Finish Foundation Primer by Smashbox ($36.00 US).

• Create the Base

Avoid the heavy bases and go for something more sheer like Face and Body  Foundation by MAC ($32.00 US/38.00 CDN)

(try mixing it 50/50 with MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion!($29.95US/$38.00CDN)

or Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 ($45.00US)

which is made with 40% mineralized water, so it’ll keep your skin looking fabulously healthy when it’s on…or off!

• Add some Colour

We mean “healthy colour”.  Shades that are closer to your skin tone. Natural rosey, coral hued lips and cheeks, with barely there but glowing eye shadows.  For the eyes, try the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow ($22.00US)

line, which will keep your eye shadow looking fresh all day long! Start with a light colour like Bone and apply it all over the eye including the brow line.  Then, depending  on your skin colour, go for a nude shade in the pinks, beiges, peaches, and light browns and apply it half way up the eye!  For the cheeks, the point is to use a colour that is similar to your natural cheek colour.  Try using a shade from the MAC Mineralize Blush ($21.00US/27.00CDN)

line with a sheer and lightweight application.  For the lips, you can choose to line it with a neutral colour lip liner, but using a nude lip gloss should do the trick too!  Choose a shade that will give you a touch of colour. Stila Lip Glaze ($22.00US)

has a great variety of colours for everyone!

Just remember that the whole point of a nude makeup is to make you look uber heathly and beautiful, so NEVER GO OVERBOARD, and STAY MINIMAL.
